Who WE Are
is an indoor percussion marching arts organization created to provide young musicians the opportunity to perform at the highest level. SCI performs in Winter Guard International Sport of the Arts classified in Independent Open Class.
Sun City Independent (SCI)
Since its founding in 2018, SCI has proven to be successful. In its debut season, SCI won first place in the Independent A Class at the WGAZ Contest. The following year, SCI defended the first place title. We also won first place at the WGI Phoenix Regional in the Independent A Class.
For the 2020 season, SCI competed in Open Class where we placed third at the WGI Phoenix Regional. After the unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic, SCI’s 2020 season was cut short and returned to Independent A Class in the 2022 season.
Despite this challenge, we have been stronger than we ever have been in our history. In the 2022 season, we reclaimed our first place title at the WGI Phoenix Regional for the Independent A Class.
The 2023 season marked our first appearance at WGI Championships in Dayton, Ohio. We were so excited to showcase El Paso for the first time ever. We cannot wait to be back again and keep making history!
We can’t wait for you to be a part of our incredible journey whether it be as a member, volunteer, donor, or a fan. This group is under the umbrella of Sun City Musical Arts – a nonprofit organization committed to promoting music education in El Paso, Texas and the greater southwest region.
Our organization runs solely off of membership dues, fundraisers, and contributions from generous donors. We are only able to function through the dedication of our membership, the assistance from volunteers, and the overall support from the community.
